New updates and improvements to Exhale Vault

🔒 Credentials, Banking, and Encryption 🔒

New
You can now securely store your user ids and passwords for any online platform, app, or device on any item in your vault, and you can do the same for your banking information, such as account numbers, the website to login, and your credentials to access the accounts online.

If this sounds like risky business and makes you nervous, you're not alone. We, as the creators of Exhale Vault, have the exact same concerns and anxieties that you do.

So let's explain what happens when you save information in your vault. We'll walk you through how the Exhale Vault application keeps your data safe, so you can feel confident and at ease.

When you enter something like your bank account number into the vault, it doesn’t just sit there unprotected. Instead, we use a super secure system to lock it up tight. Think of it like putting your information in a digital safe with a really strong lock. Here’s what happens:

  1. Your Data Gets Scrambled: As soon as you send your information, the application immediately encrypts it. This means it’s turned into a jumbled-up code that looks like gibberish to anyone who doesn’t have the special key. For example, your number might go from something like “123456789” to a random-looking string like “kshzlrlUbCC5gy0=”.
  2. Locked Away Safely: This scrambled version is what gets stored in the database. Even if someone were to peek into the database (which is already protected), they’d only see this unreadable code, not your actual bank account number. It’s like storing a locked box instead of the actual treasure.
  3. Only the Right People Can Unlock It: The application uses a unique, super-secure key to encrypt and decrypt your data. This key is carefully guarded and only accessible to the application when it needs to show your information back to you (like when you view your account details). Without that key, the encrypted data is useless to anyone else.
  4. Extra Layers of Protection: Exhale Vault uses a top-notch encryption method called AES-256-GCM, which is trusted by banks and governments worldwide. It also adds extra checks to make sure no one can tamper with your data. Plus, each time we encrypt something, we add a random element, so even if you enter the same number twice, it looks different in the database, making it even harder for anyone to crack.

Why is this safe? Because your information is protected at every step, from the moment you enter it to when it’s stored. The encryption happens automatically, and only authorized parts of the application can access the key to unlock it. We take security seriously, so you don’t have to worry about your data falling into the wrong hands. And even if it did fall into the wrong hands, they can't read your info because it's scrambled.

So you might be wondering - what information does Exhale Vault protect with encryption? Great question! The answer is - everything except names. That's right - we encrypt everything. We're not interested in half-measures or trying to decide what's sensitive information and what isn't. Your name is a matter of public record. So that's the only thing we don't encrypt.

Collections, powered by AI

New
Your vault now has AI-powered Collections to keep track of personal property. Sometimes a loved one has a passion that leads them to collecting things the rest of you might not fully understand or appreciate. It could be artwork, jewelry, cars, coins, or a hundred other treasured collectables. When that person passes away, those left behind feel a strong responsibility to do right by their loved one in the care and potential sale of these collectables. From a wife left with a vintage car collection or a family that doesn't really understand Breguet watches loved by their son/brother/uncle, many will face the unenviable question of what to do with these treasures.

Collections are now available in Exhale Vault, and they include powerful Artificial Intelligence tools to identify items and estimate their value. Just snap a photo of each item (or group of items - even whole rooms), and let the AI go to work for you. In the time it takes to snap your photos plus a few more seconds, the collection will be added to your vault. Don't worry, you're always in control. You can provide feedback to the AI if you care to refine or correct its work.

Collections are one more small way that Exhale Vault helps you love your family well, even after you're gone. If you're the one left behind, they help you understand, appreciate, and honor your loved one's passion.

Add Custom Items

Each owner of a vault has a Personal List for custom items. Now you can add as many custom items to your Personal List as you'd like, and then you'll be able to use all of the vault features for each custom item.

User Interface Enhancements

Improvement
The user interface has been greatly enhanced with a new and improved look and feel. The lists in your vault are all available at the top. Click one to focus your efforts on the items inside it.

Collaboration

Improvement
Exhale Vault lets you collaborate with people two different ways. Add contacts to various items in your vault so your family will know who should be involved with certain things. Contacts can receive communication from Exhale Vault, but they can't sign in or see anything or do anything.

Invite users to your account if you'd like them to actually collaborate in Exhale Vault with you and your family. We've made it really easy to work with both contacts and users. You can even convert a contact into a user seamlessly. And like always, you can provide a personal message to each user you invite to join your account so they know the invitation is real and from your heart.
